Aamir Says… “It’s A Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa Wave Right Now, Like It Was When Bobby Had Released”

AAMIR KHAN reveals quite a few things about his new projects and shares his joy over the tremendous success of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa in a quick chat with leading film analyst Taran Adarsh of bollywood Hungama.

While relishing the success of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa, Aamir Khan equates the euphoric wave to Bobby, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Maine Pyar Kiya and Kaho Naa Pyar Hai. He says Imran’s debut film fared beyond his expectations. He says he wishes his Chachajaan [late Nasir Husain] was alive to share the happiness as he was very close to Imran. Answering the rumours that Aamir is guiding his nephew in his further career, he says, “I would never do that. It’s important to take your own decisions. You must learn to walk without crutches. Right from the start of my career, I took my own decisions… I made mistakes, but those were my mistakes. I think, I’ve learnt more from my failures than hits and I would advice Imran the same.” And while on the subject he adds, “Yeah, that’s what everyone feels. In fact, a number of people do call up, enquiring about Imran, but I tell them, ‘Yeh lo number, Imran ko khud phone karo’.”

Aamir Khan says that the song that was deleted from the final version of the film was a collective decision of Mansoor khan, Abbas and himself. He says though the song was his favourite number, it made the film lengthier. But since the results are out, the song has been added in its third week. Initially, they thought of retaining it for just one week. But looking at the feedback, they might stretch it to three weeks. However, he says that the song will not be a part of the final cut in the DVD. It will be featured in the unseen portions. Remember guys n gals that Aamir Khan takes a lot of care to make the final cut of his DVD releases.

With GHAJINI complete and slated for release in November, Aamir will begin shooting for Rajkumar Hirani’s film from August onwards. It’s called 3 IDIOTS as they couldn’t get the title IDIOTS. The other cast includes Madhavan and Sharman Joshi (RANG DE BASANTI team). The big news is that KAREENA KAPOOR is now doing the film. About casting Mr. Bachchan Sr. in his next Directorial venture he says, “I was at a loss of words when Mr. Bachchan said that he would love to work in a film directed by me. He’s my favorite actor. It would be a privilege to direct him, but like I said, I haven’t zeroed on a subject yet.”

About DELHI BELLY, which would be made in English and not Hindi, Aamir Khan says, “That’s true! We are targeting at the global audience. I don’t want it to be a bilingual (Hindi, English). We tried that earlier (MANGAL PANDEY), but it didn’t work.” Ranbir Kapoor might be replaced with Imran Khan owing to his date hassles. But the decision is not yet final.
